Advocacy and Awareness
Kowanj Africa believes in amplifying the voices of African refugees and displaced communities to raise awareness and drive positive change. Through advocacy and awareness initiatives, we seek to inform and engage the international community on refugee issues, ensuring that policies and public attitudes align with the rights and needs of those affected by displacement.
Policy Engagement and Advocacy
We actively engage with policymakers to advocate for refugees’ rights and ensure their needs are prioritized. Recently, Kowanj Africa’s CEO, Ashoup Atar, met with Australian parliament member Adam Bandt to discuss the plight of South Sudanese refugees, emphasizing the need for continued support and policy reform.
Community Education and Global Awareness
Kowanj Africa promotes understanding by sharing the real stories and challenges refugees face. Campaigns such as Alier Nyong’s Story highlight a young boy’s need for medical aid, inspire compassion, mobilize support, and help the broader community understand the refugee experience and contribute meaningfully.
Collaborations and Partnerships
By partnering with governments, NGOs, and community organizations, we amplify our message, ensuring that refugee needs remain a central part of the global humanitarian conversation. Together, we work toward a future where refugees are supported and empowered to thrive.
